Miss Amy “Augusta” Parks, 94, a resident of Onancock, VA, formerly of Parksley, VA, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore in Onancock.

Born March 7, 1921 and reared in Parksley, VA, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Preston Dix Parks and Margaret Upshur Nottingham Parks.  Augusta was a graduate of Parksley High School and received her teaching degree from Longwood University.  She began her career as the English and foreign language teacher at Parksley High School.  After many years of teaching French, Augusta began working as an elementary school librarian, sharing her great passion for reading.  She loved animals, especially cats, and was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by a niece, Patty Hand Nuttall and husband Steve of Eden, MD; and a nephew, Frank John Hand and wife Yvette of Colorado Springs, CO; and several great- nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Julia Parks Hand; and two brothers, Volney Nottingham Parks and Preston Dix Parks.

Funeral services will be held from the graveside at the Parksley Cemetery on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Don Jamison officiating. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 156, Parksley, VA 23421.
