Mrs. Elizabeth Gamble “Betty” Gardner, 81, wife of the late Edward Frederick “Eddie” Gardner and a resident of Onley, Va., passed away at her residence on Thursday, March 12, 2015.

Born August 27, 1933 in Kennett Square, Penn., she was a daughter of the late Hydon Edward Gamble and Marie Vaughn Gamble.  Betty retired as Accounts Manager at BB&T Bank; was a longtime active member of Broadway Baptist Church in Cashville, Va., where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years; and enjoyed traveling and cooking.

Survivors include two children, Edward Frederick “Fred” Gardner, Jr. and his wife Pat, of Onley, and Kathleen Gardner “Kathy” Evans of Big Road, Parksley, Va.; four grandchildren, Edward Frederick Gardner III and his wife Jen, Makenzie Elliott Gardner, Michael Oliver Evans, and Nathan Edward Evans; a sister, Ruth G. Trincia of Del.; two brothers, James O. Gamble and his wife Peggy, of Fl.; and William R. “Bobby” Gamble and his wife Arlene, of Tex.; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was predeceased by three brothers and a sister; and her son-in-law, Philip Michael “Phil” Evans.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastors Bob Smoot and Fred Gardner officiating.  Interment will follow in the Edgehill Cemetery in Accomac, Va.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home, Saturday, March 14, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the aides and nurses with Hospice of the Eastern Shore, who lovingly cared for Mrs. Gardner during her time of need.
