Mr. William Dennis “Billy” Fluhart, 55, husband of Christine Marie “Chrissy” Fluhart, and a resident of Parksley, Va., passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 7, 1961 in Nassawadox, Va. and reared in Quinby, Va., he was the son of Lola Matthews Fluhart of Parksley and the late William Wesley Fluhart.  Born into a family of waterman, Billy continued the Fluhart trade, working the seaside waters of Quinby for decades.  Over the last twelve years, he worked for the Town of Parksley as their “lead man” in the maintenance department.  Among his many talents, Billy was a gifted decoy carver and painter, and had an eye for finding hidden treasures at yard sales and flea markets.  Though he enjoyed art, yardsaling, and riding his Harley Davidson, his greatest joy came from making everyone around him happy and seeing smiles on the faces of those he loved.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by four children, James Fluhart of Chincoteague, Va., Billy Joe Fluhart of Parksley, Suzannah Lang and husband Steven of Atlantic, Va., and Elsie Anita McMahan of the home; two sisters, Martha Anderson and husband Brian, and Bonnie London and husband Richard; and many grandchildren, whom he adored; and several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by the children of his late wife, Kay Reid: Joanie Laird, and Danny and Buck Reid.  Other than his father and Kay, he was predeceased by a son; William Wesley Fluhart II.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., with The Reverend Hyeon Ho Lee and Mr. George Fulk officiating.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  Interment in the Quinby Cemetery, followed by a reception at Smith’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Quinby.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parksley Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 14, Parksley, Va. 23421.
