Mr. Robert Frederick “Bob” Hoyt, 76, husband of Donna S. Hoyt, and a resident of Onancock VA, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

A native of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, Bob was born January 16, 1940 to the late Dolorus Hoyt and Annie Clayden Hoyt.  At the age of thirteen he began working as an auto body repairman, and pursued his passion by starting his own auto body business just seven years later.  In 1983, Bob and Donna relocated to the Eastern Shore where, together, they owned and operated Hoyt’s Body Shop in Tasley, VA.  He was a former member of the Canadian Legion and a lifetime member of the Onancock Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1766.  Bob enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, and there wasn’t a day that their shop and home were not filled with love and laughter.  He never knew a stranger, and you would often hear him say, “The more the merrier!”.  Bob’s most treasured moments were those he spent with loved ones, especially his children and grandchildren.  Though he will be greatly missed, his memory will live on through many people whose lives he touched over the years.

In addition to his loving wife of thirty-eight years, he is survived by five children, John Hoyt of New Brunswick, Canada, Pamela Hoyt and Kenneth Pedersen and wife Jessica, all of Parksley, VA, Angela Meissner and husband Marty of Birdsnest, VA, and Amanda Belote and husband Chad of Harborton, VA; a sister, Lorraine Chapman and husband Ed; two brothers, Roland Hoyt, and Rodrick Hoyt and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Hoyt, all of New Brunswick, Canada; fourteen grandchildren, Richard Pedersen II, Shaun Meissner, Diandra Smith and husband Karrington, Erik Pedersen, Bethany Cornejo and husband Alex, Thomas Hoyt, Whitney Coulbourne, Jessica Pedersen, Monet Hoyt, George Smith III, Gavin and Brennan Belote, Willow Pedersen, and Baby Rowan Pedersen, who will be arriving soon; a great-granddaughter, Peyton Smith; three nieces; three nephews; two great-nieces; and four great-nephews.  Other than his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ron Hoyt.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Andy Cobb officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Shore Hospice, P.O. Box 615, Onley, VA 23418.
