Bobby Bennett

Mr. Bobby Dean Bennett, 56, husband of Karen Burkhead Bennett and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A native of Chesconnessex, he was born December 16, 1960, to Ronald Keith Bennett, Sr. and Pauline Rose Jones Bennett.  Bobby was a former crane operator for Coastal Cargo in Louisiana, and attended Onancock Baptist Church.  He enjoyed playing cards, cornhole, dice and horseshoes, and cutting his grass.  Bobby was his family’s rock, and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his loving wife, survivors include his two children, Jason Dean Bennett and Christy Rose Bennett, both of Onancock; a sister, Kathy Ross and her husband Teddy, Sr., of Eastville, VA; a brother, Mickey Bennett and his wife Kittie, of Exmore, VA; uncle, Glenwood L. “Sonny” Bennett, Jr. and his wife Maybelle, of Onancock; a cousin, Beverly Ann Bagley and her husband Brett, of Waldorf, MD; his beloved dog “Rusty” (aka “Dunk Dunk”); his wife’s family; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by a sister, Christine Lee Bennett Ross; a brother, Ronald “Keith” Bennett, Jr.; and stepmother, Mary Francis Bennett.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Andrew Cobb officiating.  Interment will follow in the Onancock Cemetery, and there will be a visitation at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
