Mr. Colon Harris Loflin, 98, beloved husband of Bobbie Bradford Loflin and a resident of Accomac, VA, passed away March, 27, 2017 at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA.

Born April 1, 1918 in Randolph County, NC, he was the youngest of nine children born to the late James S. Loflin and Sarah Catherine Hill Loflin.  Colon proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII, spending thirty months in the Pacific Theatre.  He retired from Peoples Life Insurance Company, where he had been a sales manager for many years.  Colon was a life member of the Onancock Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1766, member of the V.F.W. and Drummondtown United Methodist Church, in all of which he was very active.  Well known for his joyful demeanor, Colon never met a stranger and very much enjoyed sharing his zest for life with those who enjoyed the pleasure of his company.  He will be fondly remembered for his great service to country, dedication to community, and his endless love and devotion to family and friends.

In addition to his wife of seventy-one years, Colon is survived by his daughter, Nancy Loflin Minehan and husband John, of Dallas, OR; grandson, John T. Minehan, Jr. and wife Tracey, of Oak Creek, CO; and many nieces, nephews and their families.  Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Emma L. Hicks, Willard Loflin, Dallas Loflin Payne, Clinard Loflin, Hill Loflin, Callie Loflin Dailey, Hope Loflin Jefferies, and Charlie Loflin.

A memorial service will be held at the Drummondtown United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverends William A. Greer and Albert L. Crockett officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock, VA.
