On March 3, 2017, Commander Glenn J. Muhle passed away peacefully with his wife by his side.

He came into the world on October 27, 1928, in Walthill, Nebraska and grew up riding horses through the sunflower fields of the Midwest.  He left home to serve his country in the Navy, fighting during the Korean War.

After the war, he graduated from Wayne State University and later earned a Master’s Degree in Science from the University of Virginia.  He was a passionate educator, spending most of his career as the Principal of Oakton High School in Northern Virginia.  He retired on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where he worked part-time at Eastern Shore Community College, was a Charter Member of the Eastern Shore Literacy Council, a member of the VFW, and was a member and past board member of the Eastern Shore Yacht and Country Club.

Glenn enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, golfing and fishing, but the love of his life was his family.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Margaret Shield Muhle, affectionally known as Trilly; a sister, Joyce Gustafson; two sons, Glenn Muhle, Jr. (and wife Karen), and Doug Muhle (and wife Sarah); daughter, Coni M. Chandler (and husband Bill, Jr.); ten grandchildren, Alison, Rian, Keely, Jessica, Kristen, Clay, Hunter, Brittany, Carrie, and Brian; and six great-grandchildren, Haley, Landon, Quillan, Zeya, Luca, and Cora.  He will forever live in all of us.

A memorial service to celebrate Glenn’s life, will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home, Monday, March 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Berkley Ford officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.

Memorial donations may be made to Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, MA  027801, or by visiting www.hfotusa.org.
