James T. Kimidy
May 27, 1932 ~ November 15, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years OldJames T. Kimidy, 84, of Onancock, VA, formerly of Iselin, NJ, passed away November 15, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Chris) Kimidy; son, Kenneth and daughter-in-law Jane; grandchildren, Michael Kimidy, Patrick Kimidy and wife Marinda, and Anna Kimidy; great-granddaughter, Carter Jane Kimidy; sister, Mary Patricia (Kimidy) O’Shea; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Margaret (Cafferty) Kimidy; brother, Eugene Kimidy; and sister, Veronica (Kimidy) Grabowski.
James retired from Western Electric in Union, NJ, after thirty-three years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus and active for over fifty years, in both Council 3639 in Iselin, NJ and 6963 of Onley, VA, serving many posts in both Councils. He was a Eucharistic Minister and former parish council member at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. He was also a volunteer coach in the Iselin Athletic Association for several years. Jim was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War era.
Jim was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at the beach in both Ocean Beach, NJ and in Corolla, NC. He was most often found with a line in the water off his dock in Onancock or hanging out with his beloved grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, in Onley, VA, on Friday November 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Father Rogelio L. Abadano officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery, in Onancock, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 860, Onley, VA 23418.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses, aides and technicians at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and Riverside Home Health for their loving care. We would also like to thank Lloyd J. Kellam III for his excellent care throughout Jim’s long journey.
