Jean Prier Jenkins
August 19, 1931 ~ May 11, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years OldMrs. Jean Prier Jenkins, 84, beloved wife of the late James Lewis “Jimmy” Jenkins, and resident of Onancock, Va., passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her home.
Born August 19, 1931 in Accomack County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Fred C. Prier and Sue S. Redd Prier. Jean retired as a teacher’s aide from Bloxom Primary School, and was a longtime member of Market Street United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, who loved flowers and birds, particularly the Baltimore Orioles, as she was one of their biggest fans. Jean treasured time spent with her family, and especially enjoyed holiday gatherings when she would happily prepare family meals and surround herself with the warmth and laughter of those she loved so dearly.
Survivors include her son, James L. “Jimmy” Jenkins and wife Mary of Onancock; her daughter, Gloria J. McSwain and husband Charles of Charlottesville, Va.; two grandchildren, Kristen Paige Jenkins, and Travis James Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Market Street United Methodist Church on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend J. Barton Weakley officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
