Mary Alice (Parks) Phillips

Mrs. Mary Alice Parks “Mert” Phillips, 74, beloved wife of William “Bill” Phillips, and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, surrounded by her adoring family.

Born March 31, 1941 in Deep Creek, VA, she was a daughter of the late William Thomas Parks and Merle Susan Johnson Parks.  Family always came first for Mert and nothing was more important than spending time with those she loved, especially her granddaughter.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, William Thomas “Tommy” Phillips of Virginia Beach, VA, and Parks Phillips and wife Donna, of Parksley; two granddaughters, Karrie E. Phillips, and Jessica E. Bradford, both of Parksley; a sister, Gracie Bailey and husband Orville of Frankford, DE; a brother, William Parks and wife Betty of Onancock; and several nieces and nephews.  Other than her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Billy, Woody, and Stanley “Egg” Parks; and two sisters, Lillian Thornes, and Betty Chase.

A memorial service will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:30 p.m., with The Reverend JoLynn Hart officiating.
