            Mrs. Mildred Dennis Taylor, 86, wife of Sherwood Taylor and a resident of Bloxom, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Va., surrounded by family and friends.

            Born February 25, 1929 in Salisbury, Md., she was a daughter of the late Earl Dennis and Hilda Williams Dennis.  Mildred was a longtime grocery clerk in Wattsville, Va. and Bloxom, Va., serving those communities for over fifty years.  She was also a former postal clerk in the Wattsville Post Office, and in recent years, she and her husband owned and operated a seafood distributing business.

            Mildred was a loving woman who embraced nature and her family.  She and Sherwood shared a complex life together, but always put family above all else.  Her smile and gentle touch, will be remembered forever.

            In addition to her loving husband to whom she was married for sixty-six years, survivors include her five children, Sue Taylor Evans, Sherwood Taylor, Jr., Greg A. Taylor, Cynthia Taylor Murgatroyd, and Dennis R. Taylor; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joanne Dubois and Shirley Mae Culp; and a brother, William Earl Dennis.  Besider her parents, Mildred was predeceased by a grandson, Gregory Allen Taylor, Jr.

            Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Freddie Ward officiating.  Interment will follow in the Downing’s Cemetery in Oak Hall, Va.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 19, 2015, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.

            Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Bloxom Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 132, Bloxom, Va.  23308.
