Nannie Virginia Hopkins
August 6, 1936 ~ January 10, 2018 (age 81) 81 Years OldNannie Virginia Hopkins, 81, of Greenbush, VA, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA.
Born August 6, 1936 in Oyster, VA, she was a daughter of the late Walter Colona, Sr. and Rachel Webb Colona. Nannie worked at the former R&G Shirt Factory, Holly Farms, and Accomack County Nursing Home. She was a Christian, believing the Lord always made a way for her, and answered her prayers; loved all animals and watching hummingbirds; and was a very caring person.
Survivors include her two sons, Paul Daniel “Danny” Hopkins, and William Earl “Billy” Hopkins, both of Greenbush; a sister, Jeanie Ball of Parksley, VA; five brothers, Tommy Colona of Crisfield, MD, Walter Colona, Jr. of Daugherty, VA, Roland Colona of Clam, VA, George Colona, Sr. of Melfa, VA, and Robert Colona, Sr. of Parksley; four grandchildren, Amanda, Timmy, Ashley and Sally; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her ‘babies’ (doggies and kitties). In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two children, Glen T. Hopkins, Jr., and Wanda Sue “Wendy” Taylor; a brother, William “Bill” Colona; and her good friend, A.C. Tipton.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Sam Welch officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service, and private burial will be held in Parksley Cemetery.
