Mrs. Norma Scott Harris, 74, wife of the late Robert F. “Buddy” Harris, Jr., and a resident of Painter, VA, walked graciously into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

Born April 6, 1943 in Cashville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Talmadge Scott and Blanche Harrison Scott.  Norma retired from Accomack County Public Schools, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years.  Following retirement, she continued to work as a substitute teacher and later as a receptionist for the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, always greeting those she served, taught, and welcomed with her sweet smile.  As a longtime member of Painter-Garrisons United Methodist Church, Norma served her church in many capacities and happily volunteered her time when needed.  The kindest of souls, Norma lived a life of selfless giving through her dedication to the Lord, her family, and philanthropy throughout her community.  Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched.

Survivors include her loving son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Margaret Harris of Painter; four sisters, Doris Whitley and husband Perry of Exmore, VA, Sylvia Griggs of Windsor, VA, Rosalie Lewis of Cashville, and Mary Paul Harmon and husband Butch of Melfa, VA; brother-in-law, Gerald Davis of Onancock, VA; two granddaughters, Jessica Jennestreet Bernard and husband Richard of Onley, VA, and Lisa Jennestreet of Parksley, VA; seven great-grandchildren, Brooke Harris Budd, Cierra Jennestreet, Katlyn Holloway, Landry Bernard, Shane Bernard and wife Alex, Bailey Bernard, and Nikki Zavala and husband Rudy; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Gloria Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., with The Reverend Curtis Lucy officiating.  Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Painter-Garrisons United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 237, Painter, VA 23420.

Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
