Philip H. Obenauer, of Harborton, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015.  Born March 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Harry Philip Obenauer and Lillian Clara Blumberg Obenauer. Phil (known to childhood friends and family as Butsy) was raised in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County, L.I., New York.

Phil is a retired New York State Environmental Conservation Police Officer, served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, and played keyboard in a popular 1960’s-70’s Long Island rock band.

An avid lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, many outdoor sports and activities, and spending time with friends and family boating or at the beach.

He is survived by his daughter Jenny T. Kay (husband Victor), their son Bryan V. Kay, all of Navarre, FL, and by his fiancé, Lorraine Martin Mason of Harborton, VA.  Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Harry George Obenauer, and his sister, Lorraine C. Lundstedt.

According to his wishes, private services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, 165 Market St, Suite 3, Onancock, VA 23417.
