Retha Cox Lewis

Mrs. Retha Cox Lewis, 91, wife of the late Samuel Ayres Lewis and a resident of Accomac, VA since 1952, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA.

Born January 14, 1926 in Moore County, NC, Mrs. Lewis was a daughter of the late William Thomas Cox and Bertie Cameron Cox.  She retired from Accomack County Social Services, following twenty-three years of service, and was a member of the Drummondtown United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two children, Rebecca “Becky” Wolff and her husband Ron, of Assawoman, VA, and Samuel Thomas Lewis and his wife Donna of Felton, DE; four grandsons, Joshua and Garrett Russell, and Jacob and Samuel Lewis; step grandson, James Wolff; ten great-grandchildren, Kayla, Treavor, Seth, Mystic, Caroline, Garrett, Jr., Elizabeth, Dominick, Naomi, Sophia; three great-great granddaughters, Raelynn, KylieAnne, and Aaliyha; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Bessie C. Willis, Gladys C. Waddell, and Susan Cox; four brothers, William, Merwyn, Warren, and Sidney Cox; and a great-great granddaughter, Emily Rae Godwin.     

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. George Fulk officiating.  Interment will follow at the Edgehill Cemetery in Accomac, VA.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
