Roberta Rowe Mapp

Mrs. Roberta Rowe Mapp, 88, wife of the late Robert W. Pogue and Garland Bowdoin Mapp, Jr., and former resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Monday March 20, 2017, after an extended illness.  Roberta is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Leah M. Lutz and Larry W. Lutz of Ashburn, VA.  

Born December 30, 1928 in Dunbar, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Henry Rowe and Martha Ellen Sanner Rowe.  Following high school, Roberta attended Dale Carnegie Institute and Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA.  She was a twenty-year active member and volunteer for the Uniontown, PA City Mission for the Homeless, The Fayette County Community Action Food Bank, and the Human Relations Commission of Greater Uniontown.  After her relocation from Uniontown to Northern Virginia in 1991, she became an active volunteer at the Good Shepherd Alliance in Ashburn.  From 1992–2010, she resided in Parksley, VA and embraced the Eastern Shore of Virginia as her home.  During her time on the Shore, she was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Robert Lloyd officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wachapreague Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
