Ruth Allen

Mrs. Ruth Mae Allen, 97, wife of the late Leon Albert Allen and a resident of Arcadia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA, formerly of Accomac, VA and Hightstown, NJ, passed away at her residence on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Born September 9, 1919 in Hightstown, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Arthur H. Smith and Edith Mae Layton Smith.  She was a homemaker, and with her husband, was former owner and operator of Leon and Ruth’s Drive-In in Laurelton, NJ; and she was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Arthur Leon Allen and his wife Anita, of Accomac; a daughter, Leona Alberta Wainwright and her husband Stanley, of Toms River, NJ; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Allen was predeceased by a daughter, Roberta Edith Forsberg; a sister, Jane Ann Stackhouse; and a granddaughter, Susanna Forsberg.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hightstown, Thursday, June 15, 2017, at 1:00 p.m.
