Mrs. Sue Hundley Chandler, 90, wife of the late John R. Chandler, and resident of Onancock, Va., passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016.

Born in Suffolk, Va., she was a daughter of the late Walter R. Hundley and Willie J. Hundley.

Sue graduated from Suffolk High School, and Longwood Teachers College in Farmville, Va.  Upon graduation from Longwood in 1947, with a double major in English and Spanish, she taught school in Richmond, Va.  After meeting her future husband, they moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 1950.

She was a member of the Market Street United Methodist Church, where she served as the Communion Steward for fifty years. She was also a member of the Eastern Shore Garden Club and Debedeavon Garden Club, and a longtime volunteer at Broadwater Academy Library.

Survivors include two sons, John R. Chandler, Jr. (Nancy), and Walter H. Chandler (Vicky), all of Onancock; four grandchildren, Amanda C. Zarlenga (Zack), Lyndsay C. Fausz (Elliott), Seth H. Chandler (Melanie), and John R. Chandler III: and great-grandson, Lucas C. Zarlenga. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded by her sister, Mary H. Hyatt.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at the Market Street United Methodist Church in Onancock, with The Reverend J. Barton Weakley officiating.  Private interment will be held in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
