Susan Nell Mason
February 7, 1958Susan Nell Mason, 59, a resident of Parksley, VA, was born February 7, 1958 in Nassawadox, VA to the late Oswald Thomas Mason, Jr. and Mary Lou Satchell Mason.
Susan’s greatest passion in life was family, which she showed through selflessly taking care of others, always being there when needed, and through her knowledge of her family’s lineage. As a woman of many talents, Susan had a special gift for crafts and could do anything she set her mind to. She especially enjoyed cooking, sewing, and preparing flower arrangements. Susan adored her grandchildren, and loved spending time with them. Her devotion to her family and the love they shared will forever be cherished.
Survivors include her three children, Sean Michael Shea and wife Karen and their daughter, Alana of Onley, VA, Mary Ellen Doughty and husband John and their children, Laurie and Sarah, and Shannon Michelle Taylor and husband Kenny and their children, Charlie and Erin, all of Atlantic, VA; brother, James Stewart “Jimmy” Mason of Daugherty, VA; two sisters, Murlee Mason Thomas and husband Keith of Leesburg, FL, and Martha Mason Simpson and husband Allen of Largo, FL; five nieces and nephews, Anne Rowland and husband Steve and children, Murlana, Shelby, and Haley, Kimon Thomas and wife Jamie and children, Makayla and Kagan, Maggie Garner and husband John and children, Ryan, Kyle, and Amanda, James C. “Bo” Mason and wife Melanie and children, Zachary, Makayla and Chance, and Christina M. “Chrissy” LeCato and husband Bert; best friend, Cindy Linton, who has always been by her side; and her beloved cat, “Lola”.
A memorial service will be held at the Modest Town Baptist Church on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 3:00 p.m., with The Reverend John Cullop officiating.
