Mr. Theodore Charles Defosse, Jr., 77, husband of Patricia A. (Barbera) Defosse and a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA.

Born April 20, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Theodore C. Defosse and Eleanor V. (Navickas) Defosse.  A Senior Textile Research Scientist and Manager of Development, he had worked with International Paper, Avtex Fibers, FMC, and American Viscose.  He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Onley, VA, and the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, survivors include three children, Matthew Defosse and his partner Martina Clermont, of Germany, Theresa Defosse of New Providence, NJ, and Theodore Mark Defosse and his wife Jing Cao, of Annapolis, MD; six grandchildren, Joyce Vincent, Conner, Brian and Aubrey Defosse, all of Germany, and Jiles and Jeanie Defosse of Annapolis; a sister, Barbara Hatch of Philadelphia; a brother, Robert Defosse and his wife Gay, of Satellite Beach, FL; and twenty-nine nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Adele McDermott.

Ted passed away peacefully in his sleep. He loved his family, and enjoyed rooting for Philadelphia sports teams (usually to his chagrin). He liked fishing, golfing, watching Encore Westerns, playing the stock market, and anything to do with the ocean including Atlantic City.  In recent years, he has finally been winning at a football pool, and this year was given the nickname "The Assassin".

A Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Onley, Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 10:00 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Peter Church Construction Fund, P.O. Box 860, Onley, VA  23418, or to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1959, Atlanta, GA  30301.
