Life Legacy

Billye Lewis DeCormis "GramB" Haut, 77, resident of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Georgetown Hospital following complications with cancer.

Born November 14, 1934 in Accomac, Virginia, she was the oldest child of the late Joseph LeCenne DeCormis III and Hazel Mason DeCormis and niece of the late William and Belle Fears of Accomac, Virginia. Billye graduated from the College of Wooster in 1956 with degrees in Religion and Philosophy. She worked at the Old Presbyterian Meeting House, The Salvation Army, and several other organizations in Alexandria, Virginia. Billye loved spending time with family and friends at the beach and had a great appreciation for literature and learning in general.

She is survived by three siblings, her sister LeCenne Dorris (and Charles Fitzpatrick) of Wilmington, Delaware, brothers Joseph L. Decormis IV and Richard M. Decormis both residing in Florida, and three children, her son Donald David Haut, Jr. (and wife Tricia) of Concord, Massachusetts; her son Phillip Sheridan Haut (and Emily Kuntz) of Los Angeles, CA; her daughter Sarah Lewis Haut of Alexandria, Virginia; and her dear “Grandgirls” Sheridan Belle McEwen “Sisi” Haut and Ainsley Elizabeth Drummond Haut.

Funeral will be held Saturday, 12th of May at 11:00 am, officiated by the Reverend Robert Close in the Makemie Presbyterian Church, Corner of Cross and Back Streets in historic Accomac on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Virginia. The graveside service will follow immediately afterward at Edge Hill Cemetery, Edgehill Circle, Accomac, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or The College of Wooster.
