Life Legacy

Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth “Isabelle” Newman, 91, wife of the late Christopher Thomas Newman and a resident of Accomac, VA for the past fifteen years, formerly of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox, VA.

Born July 19, 1920 in Stemmers Run (Essex) area of Baltimore County, MD, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph Foehrkolb and Annie Elizabeth Eurice Foehrkolb. Her parents owned a farm off of Mace Avenue when much of the area was farmland, forest or marshland. She was a “country girl” – known for her generosity and friendliness. Everyone liked “Isabelle” (her nickname) or “Izzy” which many of her friends called her in her later years. She would marry a Baltimore City man, named Christopher Thomas Newman, move into the city, and have three children: Carolyn Mary, Christopher William, and Linda Ann. Her best friends throughout her life were her older sister Mary, and Mary’s daughter, known as “Little Mary”. She retired from the Lord Baltimore Press in 1972. Mrs. Newman never lost her joy and to the amazement of many she remained a happy, positive person in the face of many trials and tribulations…and in her later years, failing health. She died on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, two hours after receiving Extreme Unction, the Last Sacrament. Her son, Christopher, was at her bedside when she peacefully passed.

Survivors include her three children, Christopher William Newman of Accomac and Havre de Grace, Linda Ann Newman of Bel Air, MD, and Carolyn Mary Newman Kuchinski, and husband Lawrence, of Ellicott City, MD; four grandchildren, Brian Keith Krizek and wife Christina, Kevin David Kuchinski and wife Leslie, Robert William Krizek and wife Norelle, and Elaine Lynn Kuchinski Farris and husband Travis; eleven great-grandchildren, Madalyn Margaret and Hannah Marie Krizek, Ryan Christopher, Brennen, Liam and Kaitlin Kuchinski, William and Blake Krizek, and Madalin, James and Benjamin Farris; nine nieces; one nephew; and her Eastern Shore friends, Eva Saylor, Laura Anne Salas, Peggy Roberts and Nancy Abraham. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Louise Foehrkolb Lang and Anna Foehrkolb Hensler; and two brothers, William Andrew Foehrkolb and Edward Foehrkolb.

A Funeral Mass will be conducted from the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue in Havre de Grace, on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Father William O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill Memorial Park in Baltimore County, MD.
