Alva Grace Riley

Alva Grace “Gracie” Riley, age 96, of Parksley, VA, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. She was the wife of the late Carlton S. Riley, and they celebrated 49 years of marriage before his passing in 1992. Alva Grace was born on April 15, 1923 in Jenkins Bridge, VA and was a daughter of the late Donald Preston Killmon and Hilda Grace Trader Killmon. She was also predeceased by a sister, Cassie Killmon Burkholder and brother-in-law, William “Bill” Burkholder.

Alva Grace is survived by the daughter, Carla Grace Riley Woods and husband Gary; grandson, Jamie Woods, his wife April and great-granddaughter, Kaitlan; grandson, Keith Woods, his wife Stephanie and great-granddaughter, Alanna and great-grandson, Aiden, all of Parksley. She is also survived by nieces, Donna Threatt and husband Harry of Rocky Mount, NC, Billie Tubbs and husband Mark of Charlottesville, VA, and Beverly Davis of Nokomis, FL; and their families. She will always be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Alva Grace was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, in Parksley, and enjoyed serving as a member of the Caring and Sharing Link and assisting with many church fundraising projects over the years.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to her caregivers for their special loving care which helped make it possible for her to spend her final years at home.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Alan Layman and Mr. George Fulk officiating. Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
