Dear Chris, Leeanne, Ken, Tim, all the kids, and the whole family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Anne is a shining light in the world. I will miss her more than you could guess and so I cannot imagine the loss you all are feeling now.
Particularly to Aunt Susie, I'd like to extend my condolences. Your relationship with Anne is such a parallel to mine with my sisters. And I cannot imagine how it will feel to go through this when our time comes. It just breaks my heart. You and Anne had that most special bond that is so rare. It's a model of inspiration for how close I want to be with my sisters as we get older.
I know that everyone is hurting deeply right now. If I can share some comfort I find in the words written in 1 Peter 5:7, which tells us we can trust in God to help us when we are upset in times like this: "Cast all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you." When I read those words in hard times, it lets me pause for a moment and then I'm able to think about what's really important to me.
My sister Jen and I talk a lot about the important stuff in life and she has taught me that it's the memories of good times with your family that are the most important thing of all. It's not money or fancy things, but the time you spend together that is the most real thing you can carry with you, that cannot be taken from you by anyone or anything.
So today, and tomorrow, and throughout the future, I will reflect on the good times that my children and I have had with Anne. And I will think about how she has taught me about being kind, working hard, being happy, and sharing love's light.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. I really wish I could be there to pay my last respects and I hope that this message to your family will convey our feelings to you all.
