Mr. William Carner "Bill" Hardstock, 89, husband of the late Lois Longacre Hardstock and a resident of Chincoteague Island, VA, formerly of Poplar Cove, Onancock, VA, passed away at his residence on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
Born March 22, 1928 in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Howard William Hardstock and Louise Carner Griffiths. Following high school, Mr. Hardstock served his country in the United States Navy. He was a longtime teacher for Accomack County Public Schools, a draftsman for NASA, and was proudly known as one of the first sea clammers on the Eastern Shore. Mr. Hardstock was a member of Kiwanis International and the Power Squadron, spent decades singing and performing with the Eastern Shore Madrigals, and was a devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he was a beloved member of the church choir.
Survivors include three children, Amy-Jo L. Hardstock of Chincoteague Island, Betsy H. Savage of Temperanceville, VA, and Whitney D. Hardstock and his wife Susan, of Parksley, VA; daughter-in-law, Debbie Hardstock of Parksley; ten grandchildren, Bill Custis, Brandy Childress and husband Shane, John and Zachary Peterson, Alexandra Lenhoff, Sean Lenhoff and wife Kayla, Mitchell J. Hardstock, Jr., Dustin Hardstock, Brittany Hardstock and wife Lisa, and Jackie Hardstock; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his church family and numerous friends. In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was predeceased by two sons, Guy Edward Hardstock and Mitchell J. Hardstock.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Christ United Methodist Church, Sunday, February 11, 2018, 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Joe Carson officiating. There will be a visitation at the church, one hour prior to the service.
