Mrs. Brenda Key Chandler, 72, wife of Leo P. Chandler and a resident of Onancock, VA, walked graciously into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Born July 20, 1945 in North Wilkesboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Claude Kitchen Key and Valeria Dancy Key. For decades, Brenda proudly worked alongside her husband as co-owner of Chandler’s Car Corral, Inc., until their retirement. Brenda loved serving the Lord, and as a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church she spent many years as the children’s Sunday school teacher and was always willing to help anyone in need. Though her presence will be greatly missed by loved ones, her memory will be forever cherished.
In addition to her loving husband of 51 years, she is survived by her two children, David Chandler and wife LeighAnn of Salisbury, MD, and Diane Chandler Farlow and husband David of Exmore, VA; brother, Michael Key and wife Dorothy of Rutherfordton, NC; three grandchildren, Andrew and Emma Chandler, and Grace Farlow; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Claude Ralph Key and Neal Key.
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverends David Boothe and Robert Smoot officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at Broadway Baptist Church for a reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brenda’s memory to Broadway Baptist Church, 15341 Broadway Road, Onancock, VA 23417.
