Catherine McVey

Catherine Elizabeth McVey, 71, of Parksley, VA, formerly of Allentown, PA, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley.

Born July 17, 1946 in Richmond, VA, and reared in Richmond and Sarasota, FL, she was the daughter of the late James F. May and Elizabeth Ellen Banola.  Catherine was a Catholic, a homemaker, and loving mother.  She enjoyed crossword books, was an avid animal lover, and adored her grandchildren and children.  Before living in a nursing facility, she had dogs whom she loved very much, and never found out what became of her beloved pets.  She was homeless for many years, but always put others first, including her pets.  She was offered a home to stay in one time or another, but refused because pets weren’t welcomed.  She chose to remain homeless, putting her dogs first, in order to take care of them.

Survivors include four children, Richard Hanshaw (Cindy), Lorrie McVey (Angel Diaz), Lisa McVey Noland (Brian), and Lewis Clark; four grandchildren, Raven Hanshaw, Richard Hanshaw II, Ashley Diaz, and Danielle Crodian; four great-grandchildren, Riley Crodian, Joshua Miles, Jacob Miles and Abigail Hanshaw; and a brother, Charles May (Carol).  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Michael McVey.

No public services will be held.
