Christine Gail (Powell) Dise

Christine Gail Powell Dise, 65, beloved life partner to James Stone and a resident of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Parksley, VA, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Hospice Center in Charlotte, NC. Born May 12, 1954 in Nassawadox, VA, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Powell, Sr. and Christine Birch Mears and husband, Brooks Mears.

Christine worked as a certified nursing assistant and medication specialist at the former Quail Run Assisted Living, in Parksley, for over a decade. She enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with her family, all of whom she loved very much.

She is survived by her children, Mr. & Mrs. Willis “Billy” Truitt of Johnson City, NY, E. Willis Truitt of Bloegett Mills, NY; her beloved pet daughter, “Diva the dog;” sister, Tammy Drummond of Melfa, VA; grandson, Aaron Keith Truitt of Greenbush, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, JoAnn Savage and brother, Ernest Powell, Jr.

A service to celebrate Christine’s life will be held at Rock Church of the Eastern Shore, in Onley, VA, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Paul Nolz officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
