Deborah Greene

Deborah Leigh Greene, 69, wife of Samuel Phillip “Sam” Greene, Jr. and a resident of Hopeton, VA, formerly of Saxis, VA, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Born December 8, 1947 in Salisbury, MD, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Victor Stoops and Betty Lou Linton Stoops.  Deborah was a hairdresser for many years, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  She loved cooking and baking, sharing food with family and friends, decorating her home and yard for holidays and seasons of the year, including making wreaths for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Fall (her favorite season), and arranging flowers.  Deborah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and had a special connection and bond with her granddaughter, Lexi.

In addition to her husband, Sam, survivors include four children, Babette Kennovin and her husband Neil, of New Church, VA, Sonny J. Kelly of Sanford, VA, Shawn W. Kelly of Melfa, VA, and Phillip L. Greene of New Church; six grandchildren; four sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend G. Wayne Parsley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery.  There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
