Dolly Shrieves Gladding, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at her home in Parksley, VA.
Born in Lee Mont on November 16, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Drummond Ayres Shrieves and Bernice Young Shrieves Hastings.
Dolly was a graduate of Parksley High School, Class of 1964. She retired from the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office after twenty-five years of service to the county, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bloxom.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son Duane Jackson Gladding and his wife, Jessica, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Caroline, all of Chincoteague; former husband Garland J. Gladding of Mears; devoted and beloved to Dolly, Garland Henry Mason of Hallwood, with whom she shared many wonderful years; two sisters, Linda S. Godwin and her husband Ralph, of Bloxom, and Carolyn S. Annis and her husband Kenneth, of Parksley; two nieces, three nephews, and their families; and many friends.
Dolly loved working in her yard. She loved to live her life doing what she enjoyed, and doing it her way. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Bob Boyce officiating. Interment will follow at the Groton’s Cemetery in Hallwood, VA.
