Elaine (Giannattasio) Hurley

Mrs. Elaine Giannattasio Hurley, 96, wife of the late Roger Charles Hurley, Sr. and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at her son’s home in Belle Haven, VA.

Born May 25, 1921 in Upper Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bonaventura “Berry” Giannattasio and Millie Nelli Giannattasio. Following high school, Elaine and Roger were married and relocated to the Eastern Shore. Elaine retired from the former Bell Atlantic Telephone Company, where she worked as a telephone operator for many years. Even after retirement, she was always on the move. Elaine was a talented seamstress and an exceptional cook. She especially enjoyed having family and friends gather around her table, and loved going fishing with her husband.

Survivors include her three children, Darryl W. Hurley and Casey of Parksley, Roger C. Hurley, Jr. and wife Tammy of Belle Haven, and Wanda Jane Johnson and husband Henry of Parksley; five grandchildren, Kristin Hurley Nocera and husband Tony, Darryl W. Hurley II and Heather, Roger Nicolas Hurley and wife Ruth Ann, Dawn Lynn Duckett and husband Brian, and Sheryl Lee Lafferty and husband Roy; nine great-grandchildren, Larah, Emma, Ryder, Sayler, Mila, Zachary, Seth, Anthony, and Allison; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Liberty Cemetery on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Robert Kelly officiating. There will be a visitation at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
