She graduated from Seaford High School, and from nursing school at the Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. She met her lifelong partner of 70 years, Graydon Hopkins, on a blind date, and never looked back. As a nurse, she worked as a Head Start program nurse, and a substitute school nurse in Wilmington.
She is survived by, and was very devoted to, her husband, H. Graydon Hopkins; three children, Randall Hopkins (Donna), Susan Pharr (Dan), and Stephen Hopkins (Donna); five grandchildren, Daria, Kate, Linnea, Lauren, and Tim; and four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Peyton, Graydon, and Courtright.
Janice was a true ‘gentle giant’, always showing love and patience to those around her with the utmost inner strength. She loved music and theatre, reading, photography, and the beach.
