Jerry Savage Obituary

Jerry Lee Savage, loving husband and father and resident of Atlantic, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2019.  He was 72 years old.  Born August 23rd, 1947 in Nassawadox VA, he was the son of the late Edward Judson and Myrtle Catherine Savage.

Jerry Savage was a true man of the Eastern Shore.  Even more specifically of Wisharts Point, a place he loved and seldom felt the need to stray.  Jerry was a master craftsman with a one-of-a-kind sense of humor.  He started his career as a joiner for Criscraft boats.  He worked for the union, building the first condominium in Ocean City, MD, and later for Perdue, and finally, for Nassawadox Memorial Hospital, where he and Sue first met.

Those who knew him knew he loved everything about the outdoors.  He loved to feed his family from the fish he caught and the deer and waterfowl he hunted or the garden he loved to tend.  He could tell you the weather from the stars and a barometer or anything one would ever want to know about the ecology of the ESVA.  Always seeing the best of people, he also had a great compassion for all animals and reference of nature.

Jerry is survived and dearly missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sue Byrd Drummond Savage and his daughter, Cynthia Callison both of Atlantic, and stepson, Bobby Parks of Pungoteague.  Also, his grandchildren, Taylor and Noah Lamphier, Jessica, Jacob and Jenna Parks.  He will be also be missed by his 6 great-grandchildren: Ariahna and Evelyn Lamphier, Dylan and Joanna Parks, Scarlett and Charlotte McDonald.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the John W. Taylor Cemetery, in Temperanceville, VA, on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow at Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
