Vernon James “Jimmy” Belote, 80, loving husband of Averil Belote, and a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Born December 14, 1936 on the north side of Melfa, Jimmy was the son of the late Edward and Helen Brown Belote, and reared in homes built by his father, on the south side of Melfa.  His ‘last ride’ will be on the thirty-foot trailer he built, named “Hail Me Home”.  Jimmy said, “There is a God, for my creativity is a gift from God.  If life started with a ‘Big Boom,’ it wasn’t large enough to make me, or my God.  Giving creativeness, again, a gift from Our Father God”.

In addition to his wife, survivors include daughters, Caroline Belote Milburn of Elkton, MD, Sheila Lynn Belote of Washington, DC; step-daughter, Robin L. Miller Freeman of Melfa; sister, Annabelle Belote Bailey of Parksley, VA; five grandchildren, Douglas Milburn, Briana Milburn, Lianna Milburn, Michelle Younker, and Preston Younker; several nieces and nephews; and beloved dog and ‘side-kick’, Midnight.  Jimmy is predeceased by his brother, Hugh; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Belote.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in the Hollies Baptist Church Cemetery, in Keller, VA.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Riverside Shore Hospice, P.O. Box 616, Onley, VA  23418, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK  73123.
