Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Parker, Jr., 68, devoted husband of Glenna Hickman Parker and a resident of Cashville, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2019 with his loving family by his side. Born July 10, 1951 in Nassawadox, VA, he was the son of the late James E. Parker, Sr. and Frances Matthews Parker.
A life defined by commitment and loyalty, Jimmy’s first priority was always to his family. Beginning with the unbreakable bond he shared with his brother, to the storybook love he shared with Glenna, and continuing with the adoration and infinite love he had for his children and grandchildren, he stopped at nothing to ensure their happiness. As a young man, Jimmy began working for Verizon where he later retired as a Supervisor after decades of service. Following retirement, he began working alongside his brother, Harry, at Coastal Homes, which only brought them closer as brothers and friends. There were few things Jimmy looked forward to more than watching one of his grandchildren play sports, and you could bet he never missed a game, even if it meant live streaming the event. Those who know the Parker family, know you will never see just one Parker – they stick together, they love, and they support. Jimmy Parker instilled the value and importance of family in the hearts of his loved ones, and they will honor his memory as they continue to stick together, to love, and to support one another.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by his daughters, Missy Parker Murphy and husband Billy, Heather Parker Hall and husband Ben, and Kim Parker Justice and husband Bryan, all of Onancock, VA; brother and best friend, Harry Parker and wife Pat of Onancock; grandchildren, Austin and Parker Murphy, Chloe, Rylee and Brody Hall, and Haylie and Reagan Justice; nephews, Matt and Jake Parker; and great-nephew, Landon.
A time of remembrance and visitation will be held at the Island House Restaurant, in Wachapreague, VA, on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Please come as you are (casual attire), just as Jimmy would have wanted.
