Kara Perry Obituary

Mrs. Kara Perry, 43, wife of Edward Christian “Chris” Perry and a resident of Painter, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 with her loving family at her side.

Born October 10, 1974, she was the daughter of Peggy and Butch Belote of Painter, VA and the late Billy Chesser of Assawoman, VA.  Kara was a graduate of Arcadia High School, Eastern Shore Community College and Salisbury State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education.  In 1992, she met the love of her life, Chris and in 1993, they were married. Over the years, she inspired and shaped the young minds of first, second, and fourth graders at Metompkin Elementary School and Accawamacke Elementary School.  Praised for her love and dedication to her students and their love and admiration for her, she was the type of teacher all teachers aspire to be.  Her love for antiques, primitives, thrift store shopping and yard sales led her to begin her most recent venture with Chris as owners and operators of “Hickory Hill Outpost”, fulfilling their passion for restoring antique furniture and primitive décor.  Kara possessed a vivacious personality and leaves behind a beautiful legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of the many children she nurtured.  Her memory can also be found in the many treasured pieces purchased from their shop, and the cherished memories she shared with family and friends. Anyone who knew Kara knew of her love of the outdoors spending time at Assateague Island and clamming/fishing near Hog Island, earning the moniker of “Clam Hog”. Another of her favorite pastimes was visiting Lancaster County, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her four beloved dogs, Smokey and Bandit, affectionately known as “the Brown Dogs”, Remington and Tuffy, an aunt, Winnie Miles of Quincy, FL, uncle and aunt, Bobby and Nancy Chesser of Assawoman, VA, many extended relatives, countless friends, and precious students.

A memorial service will be held at Accawmacke Elementary School on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 6:00 p.m., with The Reverend Andy Cobb officiating.  The family will greet friends at the school one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kara’s memory to the S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
