Mr. Kenneth (Kenny) Melson Wright, 73, husband of the late Judy Baggett Wright and a resident of Onley, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, surrounded by his children and grandson.
Born on October 14, 1944, Kenny was the son of the late Vernon and Edna Melson Wright. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard “Dicky” Wright.
Kenny is survived by his children, Robin Pruitt (C. Ray) of Melfa, VA, Ken Wright (Kendra) of Smithfield, VA, and Melissa Taylor (Scott) of Onley, VA. In addition, he is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Leland and Kaylyn Chandler, Hunter Taylor, Cullen Pruitt, and Rachel and Rebekah Wright; great-grandchildren, Graciela Malave and Millie Chandler; nephews, Dickie and Tony Thompson and Richard and Harry Wright; nieces, Tina Thompson Flanagan and Carleen Wright Eller; and a sister-in-law, Judy Wright.
Kenny graduated from Parksley High School and married his beloved “Judy Pudy.” They were married for 47 years. During this time, Kenny began his lifelong career with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Over a span of 42 years, he worked his way through the ranks until he retired as the Assistant Resident Engineer. His coworkers described him as someone who not only cared about the job at hand, but more about the people who completed it.
He was the family patriarch and someone who never met a stranger. He loved food, had a quick wit and sense of humor. He treasured his yard and watching his grandson play baseball. He hated pitchers. In his later years, he especially treasured the friendships that he developed at the various “tables of knowledge”, i.e. Bojangles, Sage, and Janet’s. He will be forever remembered as the “King of Google.”
