Larry Thomas Peters, Sr., 75, husband of Elsa Urmatam-Peters and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his home.
Born February 6, 1943 on Chincoteague Island, VA, he was a son of the late Raymond Clayton Peters, Sr. and Pansy Lee Isdell Peters. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, during which time he worked as Security Police, and in 1968, was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He later worked for Perdue Farms in the maintenance department and was the owner and operator of Eastern Shore Used Appliances. Larry was a member of United Christian Church, American Legion Post 100, and Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue. He enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and fishing and will be forever remembered for his constant love and dedication to his loved ones.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Vincent Thomas Peters of Parksley, Larry Thomas Peters, Jr. of Chincoteague Island, and Richard Thomas Peters, Sr. of Parksley; two sisters, Paulette Peters-Bowden and husband Eugene and Marion Gail Parker and husband David Lee; and brother, Benny Peters, all of Chincoteague Island; six grandchildren, Jessica Daniels and husband Jonathan of Newport News, VA, Johnny McColligan of Bloxom, VA, Chris Muller and wife Katie of Baltimore, MD, Bobbie Williams and husband Roland of Accomac, VA, Tiffany Peters of Nassawadox, VA, and Richard Peters, Jr. of Eastville, VA; mother-in-law, Maria Urmatam and extended family of the Philippines; and many great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. Other than his parents, Larry was predeceased by his daughter, Tracy Lynn Peters; and brother, Clayton Peters.
There will be a visitation at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the United Christian Church, in Parksley, on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend William Cathell officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Mechanics Cemetery on Chincoteague Island.
