Lillie Shackelford

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Lillie, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Born in Harborton, VA on July 18, 1919, she was the 6th child of (the late) Francis E. and Mary Winder (Lytle) Nicolls. She is survived by her two children, Jane (Gerry) Bennett and Phil N. Hutchinson; four grandsons; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews across America.  Also, Joy (Shackelford) Bowden and family.  She was predeceased by sisters, Alice Nicolls and Frances Badger; and brothers, Carroll, James and a baby brother. Also predeceased by our dad, Raymond M. Hutchinson and second husband William (Buddy) Shackelford.

Lillie’s sweet smile and beautiful heart will forever be remembered by all who had the pleasure to know and love her. 

Services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with The Reverend Deborah Killough officiating.

The family would like to send a special THANK YOU to the wonderful staff and friends made at the Admiral Long Term Care facility in Dartmouth. You were family too and made her last years happy and safe.
