Louanne Mears Fletcher

​Mrs. Louanne Mears Fletcher, 90, beloved wife of the late Robert Foster Fletcher and a resident of Jenkins Bridge, VA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, with her daughter at her side.  

​Born August 20, 1928 in Nelsonia, VA, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Thomas Mears and Eva Ross Mears.  Mrs. Fletcher was a 1945 graduate of Bloxom High School, and in 1949, she attained a degree in elementary education from Farmington State Teachers College, where she was among the final graduating class before the institution was renamed Longwood College.  Over the years she fostered the young minds of fourth grade students at Bayside Elementary in Virginia Beach, VA, Chincoteague Elementary, on Chincoteague Island, VA, and finally, Baltimore Highlands Elementary, in Baltimore, MD.  As a longtime member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Mrs. Fletcher happily devoted her life to her Lord and her family.    

​Mrs. Fletcher is survived by her daughter, Seala Fletcher-Kelly and husband Graham of Hudson, OH, and their son, Graham Kelco of San Jose, CA; nieces and nephew, Charron Davis, Dru Anne Mears, and Thomas Mears; and many other cherished family members and friends.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Robert “Bobby” Fletcher, Jr.; and her four siblings, James Ross Mears, Carroll Kay Mears, Roberta Gray Mears, and Rebecca West Mears. 

​Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the John W. Taylor Cemetery, in Temperanceville, VA, on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 4:00 p.m., with The Reverend Claire Hunkins officiating.  There will be a visitation at the Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

​In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 186, Oak Hall, VA 23416, or to Riverside Shore Hospice, P.O. Box 616, Onley, VA 23418, or to the charity of one’s choice.
