Nancy Lee (Evans) Payne

Mrs. Nancy Lee Evans Payne, 81, beloved wife of Charles William “Billy” Payne, and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 16, 1936 in Accomac, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lambert K. Evans and Maria Melson Gibb and husband Joseph B. Gibb.  Nancy was a former cashier at ACME Market in Onley, VA. In her retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and board games and visiting with friends and family.

In addition to her husband of sixty-three years, survivors include daughters Deborah P. Mason and husband Mike of Parksley, and Brenda L. Payne of Onancock, two granddaughters, Jessica Pawin and husband Charles, and Dara H Ocheltree and husband Chris; great-granddaughter Layla Pawin; and several cousins. Other than her parents, she was predeceased by her step-brothers, Lester, Bobby, and Pat Gibb.

A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at the Drummondtown United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend William A. Greer officiating. A reception for friends and family will immediately follow the service. Interment will be private in the Edgehill Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Drummondtown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 267, Accomac, VA  23301.
