Norman L. Wheatley

Mr. Norman L. Wheatley, 80, of Quantico, MD, formerly of Tangier Island, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 4, 2017.

Born February 10, 1937, and reared on Tangier Island, he was a son of the late John Lewis Wheatley and Margaret Parks Wheatley.  Norman was a retired waterman and a member of the Church of God.    

Survivors include his three children, Tony Lewis Wheatley and wife Gayle of Guilford, VA, Patty Wheatley Bergquist and husband James “Jimmy” of Onancock, VA, and Karen Wheatley Adams and husband Sammy of Quantico; sister, Edna Jane Brown; brother, Matthew R. Wheatley, both of Tangier; five grandchildren, Jonathon C. Adams and wife Tayler, Suzanne Reynolds and husband Shane, Karen M. Wheatley, Demi M. Lambertson, and Annie Isabella Bergquist; two great-granddaughters, Keira E. Wheatley and Layla J. Wheatley; a great-grandson, Chance F. Reynolds; and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Bryan “Sissy Gal” Wheatley; brother, Lorin L. Wheatley; great-grandson, Holland Wheatley; and brother-in-law, William Brown.

A memorial service will be held at the Onley United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Charles W. Parks III officiating.
