Patricia Fate Obituary

Mrs. Patricia L. Fate, 81, wife of the late Major Robert “Bob” Fate and a resident of Wachapreague, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Shore Health & Rehab Center in Parksley, VA.  Born November 30, 1936 in Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph Faith and Anna McDonald Faith.

Pat was raised in a Catholic home and was a member of Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, in Onley, VA.  A woman of limitless talent and strength, Pat had mastered everything from baking and decorating wedding cakes to assembling offshore fishing rigs, however her greatest priority, and proudest accomplishment, was her commitment as a wife and mother.  She and Bob moved to the Eastern Shore following his retirement in 1976, and together, they owned and operated “Bob’s Offshore Tackle,” in Wachapreague.   Pat loved going fishing, often seven days a week, and she was very proud of her 75 lb. tuna and 85 lb. marlin citations.  Among her many traditions, Grandma Pat especially looked forward to teaching each of her grandchildren how to catch crabs off the dock with a chicken neck.   As the matriarch of her beloved family, Pat’s presence will be greatly missed, but her life forever celebrated through the many memories shared with her loved ones.

Survivors include her four children, Linda Scerbo and husband Tom of Long Valley, NJ, James Blaine and wife Paula of Canton, OH, William Blaine of Bloxom, VA, and Sean Fate and fiancé Tracy Taylor of Wachapreague; sixteen grandchildren, Kellyanne Andrucyk (Eric), Steve Scerbo (Danielle), Tim Scerbo (Rachel), Keanan Blaine, KrisAnne Lawson (Josh), CJ Blaine (Jamie), Parke Blaine, Rhiannon Blaine, Shelby DeBarr, Paige Ailing, Brandon Ailing (Christine), Cathleen Minnekine (Christopher), Hollis Parks (Terry), Jessica Taylor (Christopher), Heidi Taylor, and Olivia Blaine; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her cousin, Maureen Robinson (John) of Long Valley, NJ, whom she shared a special bond with.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her four siblings, Marilyn Choma, Barbara Blaine, and William and Thomas Faith.

Over the last several years, our family has been blessed by the love of  Pat’s “little angel”, Tracy Taylor, who has selflessly dedicated her time, care, and compassion to our Mom and Grams.  We will be forever grateful for the unwavering love she has shown, and we are so thankful to have the addition of Tracy, and her family, into ours.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, in Onley, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with Father Rogelio L. Abadano officiating.  Private interment will be held in the Wachapreague Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Intrepid Hospice, P.O. Box 770, Onley, VA 23418.
