Robert Filmore Plummer

Robert Filmore Plummer, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 92 at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore on September 29, 2017.  He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Susan and William Mastyl of Harborton; son, Christopher and his partner Rob Williams of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He is predeceased by his wife of sixty-one years, Emma MacMillan Plummer.

Bob moved to the Hermitage 4 years ago from his home of thirty-seven years in Hudson, NH, and was President of the Residents Association before his last illness.  He was a tenor soloist and lifelong fan of classical music; he started his musical career in the choir at Trinity Episcopal Church in Boston at the age of 6, under the direction of his father.  He was born and raised in Dorchester, MA; following his service as a Medical Aidman during World War II, he studied music education at Boston University, during which time he sang at Tanglewood Music Center.  He was the lead soloist for several churches, including the Church of the Good Shepherd, in Nashua, NH, for thirty-five years.  Bob worked as a salesman and purchasing agent during his career, including Nashua Paper Company and Sanders Associates (now part of BAE Systems).  After retirement, he volunteered several times a week at the local hospital for over twenty years, and enjoyed gardening and traveling with Emma.  He especially enjoyed his travels in the Chesapeake Bay area.

A service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hermitage, 23610 North Street, Onancock, with the Reverend Robert Fletcher officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Hermitage from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
