Mr. Stanley L. Cieslik, 88, husband of the late Karen Mary Cieslik and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
Born October 29, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Thaddeus Cieslik and Cecilia Tryger Cieslik. Stanley served his country in the United States Air Force. Following discharge from the military he began working the former Reading Railroad, in Philadelphia, now Conrail Railroad, where he later retired as a yardmaster. Soon after retirement, he and Karen moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, settling on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Throughout his life, Stanley loved to be on the water, spending most of his free time boating, crabbing, fishing and clamming on the east coast. Over the last 20 years on the Eastern Shore, he has continued to enjoy his passion for the water, sharing it with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was member of the Exmore Moose Lodge and a devoted member and gracious benefactor of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Survivors include his two daughters, Joanne Loiuse McGovern of Onancock, and Cheryl Ann Milford of Gastonia, NC; sister, Cecelia Angst of Cinnaminson, NJ; four grandchildren, Justine Barnes, Julie Narisi, Timothy O’Shea, and Scott Milford; six great-grandchildren, Rylan and Rory Barnes, Timothy and Jonathan O’Shea, and Jayden and Jocelyn Narisi; nieces, Margie Switzer and Elizabeth Atkinson; great-niece, Deborah Steele; and great-nephews, Thomas Steele and Jonathan DePhilippo, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a niece, Diane Angst.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, in Onley, VA, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., with Father Rogelio L. Abadano officiating.
