Obituary

Adam Eugene Godwin, 32, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 in Temperanceville, VA. Born September 24, 1990 in Nassawadox, VA, and raised in Bloxom, VA, Adam was the son of Patricia “Patty” Gail Hinman and her husband, Eddie, and Van Eugene Godwin.

Adam was one-of-a-kind and loved making people laugh. He was a funny guy, who loved rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose. He was known for having a big heart and cared for anyone who he crossed paths with. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

When he wasn’t watching Dallas make the play-offs, he was watching #5 Kyle Larson run laps around the competition in his Chevy Camaro. NASCAR was a Sunday tradition with his family. Adam also had a large gaming community of friends. His Call of Duty and Fortnite friends have lost a top player. But where he will be remembered most is in the memory of his girls.

A true “Girl Dad,” he loved making them laugh and spending time showing them how to game and going to the zoo. He taught them how to fish, but most of all he taught them how to love. His daughters were the most important thing in his life. His legacy will always be carried by those five little girls.

Adam leaves to honor his memory, his parents, Patricia “Patty” Gail Hinman and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Burvile Hinman, Jr., of Bloxom, and Van Eugene Godwin, of Cleveland, GA; his daughters, Raelynn Godwin, of Eastville, VA, and Madison, Olivia, Avery, and Ryleigh Godwin, of Pocomoke City, MD; sister, Chyna DiMartino, and her husband, Cody, of Onancock; grandfather, Herbert Bennett, of Tasley; grandmother, Kay Eversole, of Salisbury, MD; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Rae Godwin; a brother, Travis Godwin; a grandmother, Blanche Bennett.

Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m., with the Reverend Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
