Mrs. Alice Mason Perdue, 88, wife of the late Marion Jasper “M.J.” Perdue, Sr. and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2020. Born March 21, 1931 in Craddockville, VA, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Peter Mason and Nannie Jewel Doughty Mason.
Alice was a talented seamstress, having worked for the former R&G Shirt Factory for 28 years and continued to share her gift with others even after retirement. A longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, Alice was a devoted Christian woman and loved reading her bible. She had a green thumb and could grow the most beautiful flowers, both indoors and out. Above all, Alice adored her family and was especially close to her son, M.J., with whom she shared a special bond.
She is survived by her loving son, M.J. Perdue, Jr. and wife Candy of Parksley; granddaughter, Lauren; great-granddaughter, Brooke; step grandson, John Watson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie Lou Perdue; sister, Jeannette Mason; and brothers, Albert and Lloyd Mason.
A funeral service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend John Herman officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends at church a half hour prior to the service.
