Angela Carey, 79, of Tom’s River, NJ, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onley, VA. Born November 7, 1944, in Point Pleasant, NJ, she was the daughter of Leon and Margherita “Marge” Headley.
Angela was outgoing and kind and smart and loving. She got to do many things and many adventures throughout her lifetime, and I know she was proud of her children and grandchildren as we were proud of her. We will miss her greatly and she will forever be in our hearts and thoughts and prayers.
She was born and raised in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
Growing up she knew the values of hard work and family. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loving Mom.
Angela enjoyed and was always involved in many of the local community events around town. She also worked doing clerical work for the Point Pleasant hospital as well as a great little clothes store in Asbury Park for a few years. She liked to keep busy so she also worked at the local library in Point Pleasant, The Book Bin bookstore, and the famous Hoffman’s Bakery in Point Pleasant Beach until they closed.
She was an avid reader of many, many authors. A few of her favorites were Agatha Christie, Caroline Graham, P.D. James, and Elizabeth Peters. Her favorite book of all was “The Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
She enjoyed the Rolling Stones, Sting, The Eagles, and many, many more bands. She enjoyed visiting the Eastern Shore over the years watching the sunrises, sunsets, and rockets, and taking rides on her favorite horse Rain and sitting and relaxing in the fresh air.
As she got older you could find her sitting on the porch or watching some of her favorite TV shows, “NCIS,” “Midsomer Murders,” “Murder She Wrote,” and “The Simpsons,” and reading a book.
Angela is survived by her daughters, Theresa Carey, and husband Joseph, of Bloxom, VA, and Justina Baechler, and husband Robert, of Bricktown, NJ; brother, Ralph Headley, and wife Rose, of Bricktown, NJ; grandchildren, Nicholle Baechler and Danica Baechler of Bricktown, NJ; dear friends, Barbara and Mark Zenobia, of Wilmington, NC, and friends, Kathy and Knight Campbell, of Point Pleasant, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and “Marge” Headley, and friend, Marc Wojcik.
In honor of her wishes, no public service will be held. Instead, honor Angela’s memory by doing something nice for someone or go outside and enjoy nature for a few hours.
