Anne Bell Chandler, 93, widow of the late Adrian Russell Chandler and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away on August 8, 2018, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Nassawadox.
Born in Northampton County, VA, on November 7, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roger Nottingham Bell and Macon Ward Bell of Marionville. She was an alumna of James Madison University, and was retired from Accomack County Public Schools, having taught at Central, Onancock, and M.N. Smith Schools. She was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church in Onancock, Temperanceville Chapter #88 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Eastern Shore Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a past Worthy Matron of Onancock Chapter #82, Order of the Eastern Star. Prior to her illness during the latter years of her life, she enjoyed playing bridge and watching sports, particularly rooting for the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins.
Survivors include a son, Scott Chandler and his wife Sarah, of Onancock, VA; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Chandler of Modest Town, VA; a grandson, Michael Chandler of Modest Town, VA; a brother, James B. Bell of Arden Hills, MN; and extended family. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Roger Bell Chandler, and a brother, Roger N. Bell, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend J. Barton Weakley officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
