Billy Paige “B.J.” Chance, Jr., 58, of Onley, VA, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Always capable of a surprise, he was born January 25, 1966, in Homestead, FL, while his parents were on vacation.
B.J. joined the Marines with his best friend right out of high school. After leaving the military, he returned to his beloved Eastern Shore. Always a hard worker, he excelled at working with concrete and cement. When he wasn’t working with concrete, he found work on the water. He was an outdoorsy guy. Any chance he could get, he took it and found himself either in the woods, near the water, or riding a motorcycle on the backroads. Although he would happily strike up a conversation, it was in solitude that B.J. found true peace. He loved his family dearly, and as an only child, his parents showed him an enormous amount of love. He brought them so much joy.
B.J. is survived by mother, Bettie Jane Hargis Chance, of Onley, VA; son, Page Chance; and beloved turtle, Rambo. He was predeceased by his father, Billy Page Chance, Sr., and grandparents, Kathryn and Roland Hargis and Georgie and Page Chance.
Per his request, no public service will be held.
